MS word wont open or save any files and crashes

hi i am having problems with my MS Word. it wont let me open or save any
files without crashing. does anyone know why? if so Please help me.

It's a problem of the interaction between third-party software (notably HP)
and a recent security update to Windows. See

instructions for doing what Microsoft is recommending.

i just want to say thank you for solving my problem, i did what you told me
to do and word now opens files and saves them. thanks very much for your
help. (i know this isnt a help question but i just wanted to say thank you)

Thank You! It helped me too! I followed the directions in the ms link to edit
my registry and word finally stopped freezing & crashing!

Thanks for the help. After reading the links, my solution was to remove the
hp "share to web" program using the "add/remove" program at control panel.
That seems to have worked, so far -- and its a lot less scary than editing
the registry.
