I have a laptop running on XP and whenever I use Word, it
will work for a moment and spontaneously shut down my
computer. What could possibly be wrong?

Does your laptop get very hot on the bottom and sides
before shutting down? I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 and it
had a bad fan (there were a "batch of these" according to
Dell). They replaced the fan even thought this problem
did not show up while doing an online diagnostic. This
solved the problem. At first they thought it was a "worm"
and asked if the computer "counted down" before shutting
off. But it didn't - just suddenly shut off - usually on
hot days and especially if I was running a disk - which
heated up the laptop.
