How do I convert Microsoft Works 4.5 files to Excel 2003?

Have you tried opening the Works file in Excel?
File, Open, scroll down to Works 2.0, .wks. Or try "All data sources."

I have tried opening the file as you mentioned, but I get a 'This file is not
in a recognizable format' message. I emailed the file from an older computer
that had MS Works 4.5 and I have tried saving the .wks file as a .wks and a
..xls file before trying to open it on my new computer. When I try to open it
in Excel 2003 I get the message I mentioned above.

Office came installed on the computer already. Is there a way to install the
