I have several Win2000 AS SP4 Terminal Servers with Office XP Pro SP3
installed. Everyone runs as a member of BUILTIN\Users. Excepting the
Administrator, no one is a member of Power Users or Administrators.
When a person launches Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, four MsiInstaller
warnings are written to the Event Log (see below). This occurs every
time the app is started. This does not occur for Access. Outlook is
not installed. This is occurring on every server for every user.
I do not think that this is a Terminal Services problem. The problem
occurs even if the person is on the server's console.
This appears to be either a setup problem or a security problem. When
we put a person's account into the Administrators group, the problem
goes away.
Any suggestions on what the problem is and how to fix it? Bare
minimum, how can I stop these events from being logged?
