I just opened an DSL accout that came with MSN as the
ISP I like using outlook for my email and contacts. How
do I setup outlook to receive MSN email accounts?

I'm using Outlook 2003, and it's really easy to do.

Under Tools, select E-mail accounts. A wizard will start, and one of the
options is "Add a new e-mail account". Select that. On the next page, it
will ask for a server type. Select HTTP. Then on the next page, it will ask
ask for your Name, email address, password, etc... The important part is the
HTTP Mail Service Provider. Set that to MSN.

Then, once all that is set up, you should see a second mailbox in your
Outlook, and it will have your e-mail in it.

Hope that helps!

2000 doesn't let you select HTTP when setting up an email
account. I have heard that there is another way to do
this

Better ask MSN support, then.

Help! I am helping a friend set up her new Verizon DSL account that came
with MSN.

I successfully set up her email as an HTTP account in MS Outlook, and now it
tells us that she can't use inbox rules with her Outlook. What gives? Is
there any way around this? She specifically went for this DSL package
because she felt that MS should be compatible all around.

Thanks.

I don't think rules don't work on HTTP accounts.

If the Verizon package includes an MSN account, then you should be able to
us POP access to get messages, in which case rules will work.

Since it's a paid account, she should be able to use the MSN connector,
which supports rules.

P.S. If you reply to this email, please make sure that your club name is
part of the "subject" line and copy the original message below your reply
(if your email program doesn't do that automatically), so I can see the flow
of the conversation. With so much email, it's hard to keep it all straight.
Thanks. (Note to AOL users: to copy this email, highlight all the text with
your mouse, then hit the "reply" button.)
