Hi Folks!

I am trying to access the msnews.microsoft.com news
server. I asked my company if I can access port 119 and
they told me that they open have 80 and 443 open. Is that
the reason why I can't download the newgroups on MS
newsgroups? I get a message stating that I can't connect
to the server. Also, is there another port that I can
direct my client program to?

Yep.

I get a message stating that I can't connect

It wouldn't matter if you did that, because the news server is expecting
connections on port 119. What about using the <dreaded> CDO/web interface to
the MS groups? Or if you're in IT and are a trustworthy soul, ask your
security people to open up port 119 only for your IP address?
