\MSOCACHE can't change.

B

Bob Gearhart

Microsoft's great help FAQ says;
Q7: How do you control the location of the \MSOCACHE
folder?

A7: To specify the location of the \MSOCACHE folder, use
the LOCALCACHEDRIVE setup property. This property can be
enabled from a command line or a Setup settings file
(Setup.ini).

Note You cannot control the location of the \MSOCACHE
folder in the Setup user interface.

Which all sounds rather helpful except, there are no files
on my machine listed as LOCALCACHEDRIVE or even files that
contain that text. There must be an ini file someplace
where I can change the drive letter pointed at. Problem
is, my machine is a video editing beauty, with a nice
drive set aside for video capture. However before I can
use it as such, I am required to reformat it just to
remove the garbage Microsoft puts on it in a hidden
MSOCACHE folder. How do I use that information above, or
where can I find the ini file to change. I use this
garbage to spell check my outlook express, write a letter
occasionally and keep the grandkids birthdays straight.
Why do they make it so difficult..

Did you turn on searching hidden and system files/folders in Windows search?
(BTW, we knew it was Office 2003 since that is the only version that creates
this file.)
