Hello Giriga,

You got the indicator "This assignment work has been edited" because
somebody entered manually some data on the assignment level (white cells,
with the resource name in italic)
You can double click the assignment row to open the Assignment Information
dialog, then in the General tab, select Work contour = Flat, instead of
Contoured.
Nb : Ms Project will take the maxi units has the flat number of units.

Hello Gerard,

I did that but while saving it is displaying a message " Do you want to
synch with protected actuals? " If I say yes it will go back to old values.
Is there amy way that I can sync actuals and protected actuals?

Thanks

Your system has Managed Time Periods and so all actuals must come for
resource timesheets. You are attempting to change actuals in your project
and so will always get this error if you attempt to change actuals.

Jonathan,

Can we change from Managed to Non - Managed now? If so will it impact
anywhere?

Also can we change between Managed and Non Managed and again if need be back
to Managed?

Thanks

If you are on SP1 or greater then I believe there should be no issue on the
technical side from switching from managed to non managed and back again.
In fact, sometimes, this is necessary in order to fix issues where the
actuals need to be overwritten from Project to PWA. Just be aware that if
you switch from Managed to Non-Managed, your PMs will have the ability to
overwrite actuals reported in the past by your resources.

Dear Jonathan,

To avoid the "...sync actuals and protected actuals?" whenever a project is
opened in MSP. Can we change to Non Managed, then overwrite and immediately
change back to Managed?

Thanks

Hello Jonathan,

I was just thinking to switch it to Non Managed then overwrite and change it
back to Managed. Hope this should be fine and I was planning to do this
during the weekend when no user is using it. Hope its ok!!!

Thanks

I believe you will be ok as long as you have SP1 or greater installed. I
cannot of course, make any guarantees, since I have no idea of your full
environment setup.

Good luck this weekend with the work.

Hello Gerard,

Is there any way to make the work contour = flat against a resource. I mean
instead of selecting individual task and making the work contour = flat , can
we select a resource and make the work contour = flat ?

Also, even though for one of the task for resource "X" I have made work
contour = flat , it still displays assignmemt work has been edited in MSP
under Resource Usage sheet, when I am using the same resource " X".

Can anyone help me please!

Thanks

Hello Gerard,

Yes I have edited the assignment to balance the total work time. But when I
did flat it is changing the work. So what do I do? How will I overcome the
edit message without impacting the work of that resource against the task?
What will happen if the message is left as is, I mean ignore . Will it impact
anywhere?

Thanks
