MSP excel linking

Dear sir
I have created one sheet in excel which had some linkings from MSP.
But later I found out that the links used to get disabled when ever I
reopened the sheet.I have MSP 2007 and Excel 2007. Can the link be trusted.I
have prepared some cash flows in excel. The start and end dates have been
linked with main shcedule in MSP. So can I trust the links will they hold
good in the longer run? or there is some otherway.
Is there any other way by which my links to the specific fields in
excel will get updated when ever I updated the main schedule in MSP?

Links can be kind of tricky - especially if files get moved or renamed frequently.
As long as reasonable precautions are taken, the links probably will work
and can be managed easily enough in Excel or Project.

A lot of folks opt to push data from Project to SharePoint and then back
into Excel. This may be a more robust solution for you - although it may
require some effort and third party tools to configure.

I would not rely on the links. As you have seen they are easily broken and
when there are a large number they become difficult to troubleshoot.

I'd build some sort of export routine from project - eg: filter the tasks
for just the ones you want and save to an excel file. Or build a macro which
copies the data over.
