Hi,

Could I ask if there is a way to specify the start/finish dates of a split
in a task?
I want to monitor downtime in assembly due to stoppages like parts supply.
I'm aware of alternate ways of doing this in project but it would be easier
to
explain this to non-planning persons as a simple graphical reminder in the
Gantt chart.

Hello Andy,
You can use the Stop field : start of the split, and the Resume field :
finish date of the split.
Insert / Column / Stop... same thing for Resume.

Other way : if you assigned any resource on that task, you can enter 0 as
the work value for that resource in the Task Usage view.
