MSProject Save as XML corrupts dates

I have a MSProject 2007 mpp with about 1500 records. When I save it as
XML nearly half of all of the start dates, milestones as well as
tasks, are reset to the project start date in the XML. I have repeated
the save several times with the same result. Does anybody know what
could be causing this?
