After I save a baseline and start entering actual work, it seems that my
adding actual hours changes my estimated hours. Should this be happening?

Hi Jack,
Yes of course!
The remainder of the plan should be based on reality, not on what used to be
the plan before things started to happen.
If you want to keep track of this original plan, before entering actuals
Tools, Trackiing, Save Baseline.
Use the tracking Gantt to compare baseline and updated plan.
