MSPS 2003 schedule opening error in MSPS 2003.

In a MSPS 2003 Production environment some schedules are not opening through
Project professional 2003, however same schedule can be opened by PWA->
project professional. Checking the error I noticed that while opening those
schedules through Project professional 2003 under Publish filed 'p' is in
samll case. After changing it in the database small 'p' to capital 'P'
schedule can be open but after republish the same schedule ".Publish"
extension is missing from the schedules.

I would appreciate if any help me with the workaround , why I am facing this
problem with certain schedules and how to resolve this.

Chhandamoy,

What is the service pack in project server? Have you guys made any macro to
open project? Any customizations? sometimes when you open project using macro
or any other customization and you selected to open project with small "p" in
published it will publish the project with the same.

Let me know.

Gaurav,

Thank you for your reply.

Service Pack 2 has installed for Project Professional 2003 and we also have
macro. We have to click "Enable Macro" while opening the Project
Professional. But the macro is use as Internal reporting Tool nothing to do
with opening a project. What I have noticed that Publish filed of project in
the Server is "P", but ceratin projects 'p" ( i.e. Small p), We can not open
those project. after changing the small p to capital P we can open the
project, but republishing the same schedule .publish extention is missing
from the project name , though we can open the project after changing it
samll p to capital P.

We got the workaround but any thought why we are facing kind of problem?

It is not with the same project. schedules are different with each other, but
I can tell you it has happened only with 2 owners and all their schedules.

Check those two owners global mpt I am sure they have some macro that is
doing this. Ask those owners to open these plans from different machine and
republish it. It could be thier local global mpt.

Thanks

We have different Terminal Servers which will connect the same Project Server
environment . So from any of the Terminal Servers if the owner connects the
same Project Server he/she has to enable macro to connect the Project Server.
This macro is same for all the users working in an Project Server
environment. As per the process Porject Manager can not publish projects from
his/her workstation.

I experienced this problem also. Check external links that are referencing
the project that can't be opended. We had an external link that called out
the project as a ".published" instead of ".Published". When the project
opended, it changed the letter case of the linked project. Then Project was
unable to open the linked to project.

Hope this helps!
