MSP's Assignments Finish Dates

MSP Professional 2003 SP3 & PWA 2003 - Tasks use Fixed Duration, No
Predecessors
Need help understanding why the assignment's finish dates in MSP's
Tasks View (Window > Split Window > Resource Schedule) retains the
tasks' original finish dates even when the task duration increases and
pushes out the tasks finish dates if the resource has actual work
hours with remaining work hours.

Thanks,
Kathy

Is this occuring after an "actuals" time update from PWA's tasksheets? Has
a project-wide re-calculation been done before observing this behavior?

Sometimes it occurs after actual work hours have been entered & posted
via PWA, and then there are tasks within other projects which no
actual hours have been entered. Calculation mode is set to
Automatic. It's a hit & miss in determining why some tasks and some
resources are affected but not others.

Are more than one resource assigned to the affected tasks? If one
resource adds hours to Remaining Work, but the others don't, then the
duration will move out, and only the resource that added time will see their
assignment finish date change. Remaining Work can be changed independent of
actual time.

Otherwise, it is a mystery! :>)
