MSQuery ODBC error

Greetings all --

We're having a problem here with manually refreshing Excel pivot table
with data from Microsoft Access. The error we're receiving i
"[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] String data, right truncate
on column number 1 (TABLE_CAT)"

Our fields are well within 255 characters, MS Office 97 Pro has bee
removed and reinstalled with appropriate service packs, our SQLLin
ODBC Driver software was also removed and reinstalled with no goo
results. The only change in the machine between working and no
working is that Lotus Notes client was upgraded from 4.6 to 6.5, whic
shouldn't have affected this at all. The machine OS is XP Pro.

There is another machine in the office with the exact same querie
which works without a problem. Its OS is Server 2000 and it doesn'
have Lotus Notes client installed.

I hope someone can help us with this!

Thanks in advance,

Charlott

I've read that this error occurs when there is a space in the path to your
database. That doesn't sound like it fits your fact situation very well,
but I think the first thing I'd try is moving the database to a path with no
spaces. If it still doesn't work you can at least rule that out as a
problem.

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be causing th
problem. We're now up to discussing wiping out the entire machine an
reinstalling all to see if that solves anything.

Yikes! Make sure you do a google search first. Search on "String data,
right truncated on column number" if you haven't already (and search at
google.groups, not just google). You'll get a lot of hits, most of which
will tell you what I told you. But there is some other info there. It's
probably worth a 15 minute search before you go reformatting the hard disk.
