MS's PDF Shocker - "Save as PDF" support in all Office 12 apps !

I am trying the think of the catch here. Gotta be a catch.

I guess the pessimist might say that PDF has gotten too popular and
useful to ignore. In that case M$ might be using the "Embrace, extend
and extinguish" method of dealing with even the slightest competition.

I don't know how this fits in with "Metro" (Microsoft's PDF-like
format).

I guess that Metro will be the "Extend" the PDF standard, with the
hopes of "Extinguishing" the PDF movement.

Time will tell.

Until then, saving to .pdf Directly in OneNote will be a breeze.

No catch. Sometimes things are just as they seem and there is no vast
conspiracy. It's just (super-fast) save to PDF. It's fast because we save
directly to PDF and do not go through a print driver. That means things like
hyperlinks and so on can work.

We did it because people have been asking us for it for a long time and we
tend to do what customers want.

Ahh... so with enough begging and a sufficiently lonnnnnngg time, things get
done!

Why not save to Metro ?

Regarding "Save as .. PDF", will you include XML and the like, or will
it be a Image .pdf with links ?

some desperates will inevitably conjure up a conspiracy theory to satisfy
their innate, insatiable distrusting instincts
