msword 2000 intermittently stops responding when executing commands, i.e, printi

word 2000 installed on my computer (asus terminator p4/533)
with windows xp (home edition) has this annoying "habit" of
hanging for some minutes before it executes commands like
opening a document (specially rtf & txt files) and printing
a document.

the same program works without problems on my other desktop
computers on windows 98se and on my toshiba laptop
(satellite 1805)

what can possibly be the problem?

The problem could be printer driver-related. Try deleting and reinstalling
the printer.
