Much text in a cell - goes to next line ??

I have a column where, when I add more text in the cell than the cell
is wide, the text goes to the next line, insted of staying on the same
line i the cell. Because of this some of my rows are 2-3 lines thick.
How can I get the text to stay on one line ?

The cells are formatted to wrap text.

Go to Format|Cells... and click on the alignment tab. In the "Text
Control" area, uncheck "Wrap Text." (You may have to restore the cell
height afterward.)

Thanks. This should work, but when I uncheck "Wrap text", the text goes
into one line as it should but it also goes into the cell to the right.

If there is nothing in the next cell, Excel will allow text to spill
over into it. This allows you to type long labels and such without
having to increase the width of the cell.

If you don't want to see text outside of its cell you can enter a space
into the next cell. This puts something into the cell even though you
can't see it, and Excel won't extend the other text into it.

Is it possible to put spaces in all the cells in a column ? It will
take a long time to do it manual in about 1000 cells.

Put a space in the first cell, select entire column, control-D (try with a
character first to see what happens)
