Mulpiple versions of office on the same PC

Can I install a previous version of Microsoft office (Office 97) as well as
having a later version (Office 2000) while only paying for the later version?

no, you must pay for both versions, and it is not recommended to have 2
versions installed on the same computer.

Basically install earliest version first, custom install to a version
specific folder, run office update,ammend any office shortcuts eg from word
to word97
Then install o2k, also custom to a version specific folder and update
Only a single instance of OL can be installed
