Multi conditional IF

Hi All,
I have another interesting problem I would be greatful for any help.

If A1 is >B1 then D1="on"
If A1 is <C1 then D1="off"

once D1 is set to "off" it cannot be turned back to "on" until it is
B1 again.
B1 will always be > C1

So if A1 is below B1 but has never been below C1 it is still on.

I hope that makes sense.

This may not be elegant but it might help (if I understood your proble
correctly).

In cell D1, enter

=if(and(A1>B1,B1>C1),"ON",if(A1<C1,"OFF",""))
