Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

I've just bought the student&home edition of Office:Mac 2008 from London. I'm English and I want to install it on both mine and my girlfriend's Macbbook - she's Danish and wants to set the User Interface to the Danish Language - is this possible?

I'm afraid it isn't. Office only offers one UI language; if you bought the
English version, you won't be able to use the Danish interface.

I have the same problem; German girlfriend. Must we buy two Office versions, one in English and one in German? Can they both exist side-by-side on the same computer?

If I buy the full version, can I get two copies, one in German one in English?

Additionaly, if I buy a MAC, can I switch from German to English interface for the operating system interface?

Thanks!

Hi Vince,

computer?

I'm not sure if you can have two different language versions of Office on
the same computer, at least not in the main Applications folder. It might be
a good idea to create an Applications folder inside each user's home
directory and then install Office there; that way, there should be no
interference.
If I buy the full version, can I get two copies, one in German one in English?

No, I'm afraid you can't. When you buy the full version in English, that's
all you get: the English version. You are required to buy two copies, one in
English, one in German.
Additionaly, if I buy a MAC, can I switch from German to English interface for
the operating system interface?

The language used in the Mac's UI can be changed. In fact, you can have two
different user accounts, one for yourself and one for your girlfriend, and
set the appropriate language for each account. Furthermore, most Mac
applications are multilingual, meaning that if you open them in an account
with German as the system language, they will display in German as well;
likewise with English/French/Spanish etc. Office is one of the few
exceptions who do not follow that rule.
Thanks!

You can't! You'll have to go back to where you purchased it and ask for a
refund. There is no way to convert from one language to another. You will
have to purchase (or get in trade from your supplier) a complete new English
version.

The English language version of Office comes with a Spanish dictionary for
spelling checks of documents in Spanish. However, the user interface
(menus, toolbars, dialog boxes) will appear in English. To actually have a
Spanish-language user interface, you'd need to purchase a Spanish version of
Office.

There is no language pack. To have a German version, you will have to buy
it. If you no longer want or need the English version perhaps your seller
will allow you a refund.

Some people ahve used their English serial number with an installation
in a different language. Therefore I woudl say that tehnically, what you
need is to find someone with the German versiona and borrow his CD.
Since you are using your serial number, I don't see any problem here,
