multipe copies in unread folder

Why do I receive multiple copies of new messages from some users in my
"Unread mail folder"? How can I correct this?

From only "some users"? perhaps its a problem with the e-mail server
those people use?

I receive 1 copy in the inbox and then 2-4 copies from some in nthe unread
mail folder. It almost acts like outlook is making copies. ?????

Unread mail folder? Perhaps you have some rules configured to do this?
Look in Tools, Rules and Alerts.

The unread folder is only a search folder and stores no information in its own folder. It is a virtual view of other folders. If you have mail filtered to several folders, you will see what you are seeing in your unread mail folder. If you display the output of that folder sorted by folder, you will see.

You may want to put the "stop processing more rules" at the end of rules that filter the email from the people whose mail is showing duplicated.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Joel asked:
