What is the procedure for two different people on
separate computers to be able to upload changes. The
administrator of the site has given permission for the
second person to do this.
If you're each going to keep a local copy of the target
Web site, you'll just need to be careful, especially when
FrontPage reports a "conflict" during publishing. In most
cases, this means the other person has already changed a
file you're about to upload.
You may want to enable Document Check-In And Check-Out on
the target Web site. This provides a way that each of you
can flag files you're working on, and prevent the other
person from changing the same file.
FP2003 has a couple of new features that are useful in
situations like this.
o First, you can configure Document Check-In And
Check-Out to operate on the remote site. This means
that when you check out a file on your local copy
of the site, the checkout actually occurs on the
remote site. (Note that it does no good to lock
files on your local copy, because that's not the copy
your co-worker would be access.)
o Second, the Publishing feature has a Synchronize
option. This compares the files on the remote site
to the files on your local site, and transfers files
in either direction as necessary. So, when you send
your changes up, you can also pull your co-worker's
changes down. (Of course, this still gets a bit
complicated if you've both changed the same file.)
