Multiple Pages - Problems with text

Can anyone provide me with an explanation for the following?
I have created a document on Word - to standard A4 size which I want to
print multiple copies of on one sheet. In this case I want to print two
copies so that I have 2 x A5 sheets of the same thing.
So I've been going into Print..., then putting in 1,1 in pages to print,
then 2 pages per sheet in zoom option. This has been working ok but every so
often the text spacing changes and can either be squashed up, or wide spacing
which makes reading extremely difficult and looks a complete mess.
Its really frustrating and I just can't understand what is going on and how
I can fix it - any ideas?

Are you printing from the *same* computer to the *same* printer each time?
Differences in either can cause the type of deviation you describe.

I'm printing from the same computer each time and to test your theory I have
tried printing to the original printer then to a different one and guess what
- they both printed perfectly!!!

The above I did at work, now I tried to do something similar on my home
computer which only uses one printer, so I created a new document on my home
computer and when I came to print it at home it did the weird printing thing
- so a totally separate case!

What am I doing wrong?!!!

Jumbled text - according to contributor Bob Buckland: "It's a bug that
somehow seems to have Word misreading temporary files related to the printer
currently in use. You can usually 'unscramble' the display from File=>Print
and switch to the printer properties or to another printer then your normal
one, or close Word and delete all files found on Start=>Search and looking
for ~$*.*;*.tmp as the name string then restarting Word." See also
