Multiple PWA Web Sites Question

Carlos

Hello,

I have configured multiple pwa web sites on Project Server 2003 using the
EditSite utility. The question I have is, is it possible to modify the asp
pages for each pwa web site without affecting the other. When I tried this
by going into the virtual directory for the site I created and modifed an asp
page, the change I made also shows up on all the other web sites that were
also created. I have checked all the Microsoft docs I could find but no luck.

Thanks
Carlos

Carlos,

Are you referring to the PWA site (projects, tasks, resources, etc...) or the Sharepoint stuff (documents, issues, risks)?

If you're talking about PWA and you've made changes to the asp files I believe all sites will use the same asp files and appear the same.

On the other hand, many customizations are controlled by entries in the database and you can make each site look somewhat different by changing menus and features that are allowed or denied.

Hope that helps.

Earl

Earl,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I was referring to the PWA site. I actually
tried modifying one of the asp pages and it was changed on all the PWA sites.
The client wants to be able to have users login to each site and have
different menus, logos etc. You mentioned about having to do customizations
through the database. Is there documentation that I could read about doing
this?

Thanks

Carlos,

Many of the customizations that show/hide menus and features are controllable through the administrative interface. Once in PWA click the Admin menu then go to Server Configuration. Features and Menus is the area that I was referring to.

For documentation you should download the MS Project Server Resource Kit from the Microsoft web site.

Earl,

Thanks for all your input. I will try that and also download the Project
Server Resource kit you mentioned.

Carlos:

You can avoid this by setting up separate physical directories for the web
app. What you've done is pointed every virtual directory to the same
physical directory. Create a new physical directory with your customization,
open one of your virtual sites in IIS and point it to.
