Multiple replacement of clipart

We have a huge library of standard PPT slides.
From time-to-time we want to update certain clipart items that occur in
multiple slides.

Is there a way of linking the clipart to a source file so that by
substituting a new file (with the same name) the slides are magically
updated?

Since I wrote this I found another topic that was very close to what I
want to do

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...?q=replacing+pictures&rnum=4#ec06694504497744

Using both PPT 2000 SP-3 and PPT2003. I tried the method "Insert |
Object | From file" using the link option and noticed two things:

1) The file with the link is much heavier that the equivalent file
created using "insert | Picture | From file. This appears to be
because the inserted object is automatically considered to be a
photo-editor object.

2) This method doesn't work with WMF or EMF files which unfortunately
make up the bulk of our clipart

Any ideas???
