multiple sessions open

I have a user who, when they click on their Outlook shortcut, it opens
numerous sessions at one time. I tried running detect and repair, that
didn't work. Any suggestions?

I did close all the extra ones using the X, but didn't close the last one
using File, Exit. It's the shortcut on the quick launch and yes, it ias the
/recycle switch.
