Yes, you can do this. There are several ways to accomplish this:
1. If the resource has a copy of Microsoft Project Professional and has
Project Manager permissions in Project Server, he/she should open the
project in question and select only tasks that he/she will manage. He/she
should then click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, select the
"Become the manager for these tasks" option, and then click OK. Doing so
will cause Project Server to redirect task updates to the resource serving
as the manager for the tasks.
2. If the resource does not have Microsoft Project Professional, then you
will first need to assign him to the tasks in question in the Microsoft
Project plan and then publish those assignments. The resource will then log
into PWA and navigate to the View My Tasks page. The resource should then
use the Delegation feature to delegate each task to another resource. On
step 1 of the Delegate Task page, the resource should select Yes for
question #2 (which will allow the resource to assume the lead role for the
task) and select Yes to question #3 (to track the task on his/her
timesheet). Please note that delegation is a "one to one" process, so the
resource in question would not be able to delegate a single task to more
than one resource. If you use this method, then the new resource assigned
to the task will submit task updates to the team leader (original assigned
resource) for the task, who will see the update on his/her timesheet. If
the task update is acceptable, the team leader can then submit the task
update to the manager of the project.
Hope this helps.
