multiple templates

i have powerpoint 2003 and it will only let me have 3
different backgrounds. i am trying to do 6. but when i
change one set of slides it changes others as well. for
example: when i change slides 16-24 to one back ground
it automatically changes slides 50-63 to the same
background. but i want slides 50-63 to have a different
background. help!!!!

It sounds like you want to have 6 different Slide Masters. Have you set up
six Slide Masters? Go to View > Master > Slide Master. Then you can go to
Insert > New Slide Master (6 times). You can use Format > Background to set
the background of each. You can also right click on each thumbnail and
rename the Slide Master, giving each a unique name that will help you
identify them (red, blue, green, or 16-24 and 50-63, etc.).

Finally, you'll want to return to View Normal or View Slide Sorter and
select your groups of slides and apply a template. When you hover over a
template, an arrow will appear. Click on it and you will be given some
choices. Try "Apply to Selected Slides".
