Multiple Values for Project Fields

MSP2003 Pro and Server 2003: I would like to allow a Project Manager to
select multiple values from a list of optional selections areas that could
apply to a project. For example I would like to create a list of possible
areas where a project may have an application, e.g., area 1, area 2, are 3,
area 4, and so on. Then the project manager could select (perhaps from a
drop down list) area 1, area 3, and area 4 as appropriate for this project.
The only multi value field I can find is for resources. Is there anyway to
allow multiple values in other fields?

Sorry. No. MV capability is reserved for enterprise Resource outline codes
20-29 only.

Unfortunately Multi-value select fields are not available for project or task
custom Outline codes (Note to Microsoft: This would be a great addition in a
future release). If you have a limited number of selections, you could
potentially use flag fields. For example, have a flag field for each area.
The PM could then select the appropriate areas. You can specify up to 20
enterprise flag fields in the EGT, so you need plan carefully. One word of
caution, Flag fields are not available in the PDS, so you will have to extend
the PDS to use in custom applications. For larger number of selections, we
have gone outside of the Project Server database. This is not ideal because
you have to build custom interfaces and reporting, but it is the best way of
handling the situation when flag fields are not sufficient.

Good Luck!

Bill and Dale,

Thanks for you responses. This is what I thought, just needed confirmation.
I'll let you guys know if I find some other way to accomplish this.

Best regards,

Jay
