Multiple Versions of Project on the same desktop

Can you you run multiple versions of MS Project (2000 and 2003 Professional)
no the same desktop?

Thanks

Yes, but there is rarely any need to. Project 2003 can save a project in
2000 format and not lose any 2003 specific data. Project 2000 can open the
same file, have edits made then re-save the file. Project 2003 can then open
the 2000 file and still see all 2003 specific data. A great job in backwards
compatibility.

Thanks Rod.

The reason I need to have the two versions is due to another time tracking
application being used. We are migrating from that application to Project
Server. That app does not support MSP 2003. We cannot move all the projects
currently using that app at one time. So it will be a slow migration, forcing
us to have Project 2000 and 2003 on the same desktop.

Are there any special install instructions I should know about?

Thanks

I would install Project 2000 first then 2003 second into a separate folder.

You need to be aware of which folder each version saves its Global.Mpt file.
They must be separate. If necessary start Project 2000 from a separate
desktop icon that has a folder in the Start in field that has a Global.mpt
for Project 2000. Mixing Global files will cause problems, otherwise it
should work fine.

I would install Virtual PC and have 2000 installed on the Virtual PC.
But that is just me.
