Music during PowerPoint slideshow

I am trying to play music (either from a file on my
computer or from a CD) to play during the entire
slideshow. I can get the music to play during a slide
but not to continue throughout the slideshow. Is this
feature possible?

Helps if you mention which version of PPT, as the instructions for this
are different for the different versions.
