Music in Presentation

Grateful if someone could expand on this. I'm trying to compile a photo
album with background music throughout the album and email the album to
friends and relatives. I understand that for the recipients to hear the
music, it must be a .wav file, either embedded in or linked to the album.
Problem is that audio files ripped from cd and converted to wav or ditto for
mp3 files creates a wav file which can be as large as 30 megabytes! I've
often received ppt photo albums with terrific music which is of a reasonable
size and have even tried to emulate it without success. Working with PP
2002 on XP. ANY help much appreciated!

You have misunderstood some of what you have read. You can use WAV or MP3 or
WMA files. It's just that only WAVs can be embedded. All others are linked and
must be linked in such a way that when you mail the presentation and the sound
files they will work together.

As you say, MP3s are about 10% the size of their WAV equivalent and are
therefore preferable for email. Have you tried to insert MP3s? What problems
have you had? Do you get any message?

Thanks for the feedback. No problem inserting the mp3's and hearing the
music played back on my computer. Problem is that the recipients of the ppt
don't hear the music. Unfortunately, most of my recipients won't be able to
figure out how to extract a zipped file containing both the album and the
music. Help!

In that case an autorun CD might be a good solution for distributing your
presentation because the user doesn't need to do anything except put the CD in
their drive. Nothing is installed on their system. See the following:
