I know that this is totally unrelated to office, but as this dicussion group
was able to provide me with an answer to a problem the same day as posting
(thanks BOB 1) I am hoping that somebody out there can provide me with the
solution to a long standing problem that Apple won't help with.
My iTunes only imports at 4x when it used to work at 23x. Is there any
setting that I can alter to get the performance back. Although the problem
came to light through iTunes it is just as slow with other applications,
consequently I believe the error lies more with the disc drive and associated
software. I had the problem before and it was only sorted by doing a system
recovery which lost or corrupted lots of info or programs.
Thanks for looking, even if you can't help.

I don't have the music playing when I import, and I do have the latest
version of iTunes.
thanks for trying.

You should check in with the group for the operating system you're
using, instead of here in the Office applications group. You could see
if the drive is running in PIO instead of DMA before you post there and
add that info when you do.

Thanks again BOB 1. Problem solved.
I did not have a clue about PIO(or computers in general) but when I posted
about it on iTunes I was able to get instructions to sort my problem.
2 problems, both sorted. You are a star.
