Must I pay for this again???

To may a long story short.... My last (IBM) laptop died.
Just purchased a (Sony) replacement.... do I have to
purchase Microsoft Office AGAIN for the new computer?

Microsoft Office 97 and later are compatible with Windows XP. Be sure to
download all the updates and fixes for your office suite.

If your copy came pre-installed (oem) the license is tied to your "dead"
machine.
You will not be able to install it on your new one, and will need to
purchase a newer version of Office.
