My attachment gets altered

I have to send attachments to recipients who use apple mac's. From my machine
they don't receive what I send but get a file called "application1.dat". The
same attachment forwarded by a colliegue in my office gets through ok.

There must be a setting in my machine which is different to my colliegues
but I can't find it.

Stop using Rich-Text Format (RTF) which is only appropriate for sending
e-mails between senders and recipients within the same Exhange-Outlook
organization. Send using HTML or plain-text format.
