My calendar seems to be locked. What do I do?

I cannot add or modify my calendar. When I try, I get the message--Could not
save item.
My monthy caldendar also does not show any shadings for entries.
The calendar was working, but I must have done something wrong.
I am using Pro 2003.

What do I do?
