My equation editor shows ascii characters instead of equations

When I use the equation editor to enter mathematical expressions, I see ascii
characters in place of the mathematical symbols? Any idea how to correct
this? Thanks.

Are you talking about in Word? What version? Start the equation editor,
choose Style - Define, and make sure that L.C. Greek and U.C. Greek are both
set to Symbol.
