My formulas will not pick up pasted values

I have a report containing formulas which pick up data from another
spreadsheet within the same workbook. When I paste data into the reference
sheet (in exactly the same format as the original data) the conditional
formulas do not recognise my TRUE and FALSE values in the reference sheet.
Any ideas?
