My Graphic Doesn't Show Up?

Hi,

I saw few similar questions regarding this matter so I tried to import my
picture into FP then insert it, but still doesn't work. It all show up as
square with small red corss mark on the upper left hand side corner. Any
suggestions??

In Normal/Design view on the page containing the image that you can't see,
right-click over the image area and select "picture properties". Then,
browse to select the imported picture from your folder list. That should fix
it,

Is the image in your root diretory or in the index_files directory like your
other images? If it's in the root, remove the space in the file name and
retry. If it's in index_files, add that to the path (e.g.,
src="index_files/icc-logo20small.jpg).

Hi Dan,

I am a beginner and I don;t know what 'root' means. But the image is not in
index_files directory so I removed the space, then tried again to no
avail.... any other suggestions?

The file: icclogo.jpg is not on the server in either the root folder or the images folder.

If the image file is in the same directory/folder as the web page you're
working on then it's in the "root" directory. If the image is in *any other*
folder, then you must point to that folder. You say it's not in the
index_files folder with your other images. Is it in another folder or is it
in the "root" (same folder as the web page)?

I am very new to website designing and I am not sure how i am going to be
able to put my icclogo.jpg on the server...

Would you be able to elaborate a bit more on it and tell me how i can do
that? Thank you!

Just put your pictures in the main folder where all of your webpages are
and publish your website.

Thank you for at least trying to find the answer to this
much asked question on this newsgroup. Most other folks
do not do this.

The first step in the creation of your website using
Front Page should be File | New page or web | Web (may be
slightly different menu items depending on your version
of Front Page). When you do this , Front Page will create
a special folder (look for a "globe" as the icon when you
view the folders on your computer).

This special folder, sometimes called a disk based
web, "mirrors" the site that will eventually be published
to your host. That is sometimes called a server based web.

All of the contents (pages, pictures, etc) should either
be created in this special web or imported into this web
prior to assigning hyperlinks to connect things together.

If you did not create this web but simply jumped in and
created web pages, Front Page will assume the hyperlinks
refer to files that are not located in your web but those
contained on your C drive. When you test your server
based website on your PC, you will see the pictures
(because your C drive is there to access them from). When
you test it on other PC's you will not as they do not
have access to your C drive.

You should be able to right click on this folder and
select the option to convert the folder to a Front Page
web (I forget the exact wording of the menu option).
