My hit counter quits

Every time I modify my web page, my hit counter does not show after I
publish. It just shows a rectangle with a little x and the words "hit
counter". In order for it to start again, I have to delete it and re-insert
it and publish again.

Make sure you open FrontPage, then your web, then your page when editing.
