My hit counter reset doesn't seem to work FP2002

I'm rebuilding a web site for a client that wants the hit counter reset. Each
time I reset the hit counter in frontpage and publish the site to the web
with FPSE, the counter doesn't change to the new settings. It only records
the new visitor number. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Open the live/remote site directly in FP, then open the _private folder, then open the
pagename.htm.cnt file in notepad, and set the count as needed, do not change the total number of
digits.

I tried what you suggested, but when I pulled the site up on the web the
numbers stayed the same. Could it be my compatibility or something else may
be in question?

You need to contact your host as the permissions are not set on the _private folder correctly.

I got in touch with the ISP. They were using their counter components not the
FP components. They changed it to my spec's. It works fine now. Thank you for
your help.
