My Insert Charts Buttons Are Greyed Out...Please Help

In Excel 2007 when I select the data range to create a chart, all the ribbon
chart buttons are greyed out. I'm just trying to create a simple chart using
dates and unit pricing. I really need to complete this project and I would be
very grateful for any advice! Thank you.

Make sure it's not a shared workbook, and that the worksheet isn't
protected.
