My POT is not displayed in the Templates List

I have both created and downloaded several PowerPoint templates and have
placed copy of these in every directory on my hard disk that conatins POTs
but I still cannot see them in either General/Design Templates.

I am using PowerPoint 2002 on Windows XP but I have tried this on severval
different machines with different platforms.

If all else fails, use the Browse link at the bottom of the Slide Design task
pane, or double click the POT file in Windows Explorer and it will be opened.

I have found that even if you put your templates in the right place (the
information in the link Sonia gave you), sometimes you need to use them on a
presentation once or twice before they show up in the task pane. I have a
couple of test presentations that I keep around for answering questions,
etc. When I have a template that isn't showing, I open one of those, bring
up the slide design template, and use browse to find the template I am
trying to add to the task pane. After doing this, I save the test
presentation. Generally, the template will then show up in the list of
templates. (My theory: Once the template has been added to the "Recently
Used" section, PPT remembers to put it in the main list.)
