Saving guide settings in 2003 template

Has anyone succeded in saving custom guide settings (talking about the
guidelines you can show via the View->Grid and Guide...->Guide settings
dialog) in a powerpoint template (.pot-file) for PowerPoint2003?

It works when saving a .potx-template, but I need a .pot with the custom
guides.

I have seen a template actually having custom guides in it, but I cannot in
anyway succed in getting my own custom guides saved in the .pot file.

(Have also tried to create a 2003-.pot file from PowerPoint2007 but without
success there either)
