Are you entering the correct number for *Office*? That's not the one on the
sticker on your computer.

Do you have Microsoft Works pre-installed? I do, and was advised by a tech
from my computer company HP, that Word will not work if Works is
pre-installed. I was told to remove Works, and that it should work. I haven't
tried it yet.

I meant to write "Microsoft Office will not work if Microsoft Works is
pre-installed".

I have a new HP TouchSmart IQ506T. Another individual who had also purchased
this computer, wrote about this same problem in another forum. My answer to
him, as it is to you ,is that I contacted HP tech support via a
pre-installed chat function on the computer. The tech told me that because
Works was pre-installed, Office will not work. (We're talking about original,
brand new, Office 2007 software. Not upgrade software.) I asked whether
removing Works would allow Office to operate. He responded "it
should." In addition, I searched the Microsoft database and located a
bulletin, in essence stating that Works cannot be upgraded to Office, without
purchasing some sort of fix from Microsoft. However, I could not locate this
fix. Do a search for "Works to Office" or "Upgrade Works to Office" to
locate it.

I am not talking about upgrading whatsoever. I am stating that I have had
several computers with works preinstalled, and still installed, and I have
purchased full version (not upgrade) Office suites and installed without a
problem. And working fine.

Now, I'm talking about Dells. What HP does could be a whole different
ballgame.

HP? Seems they were/are the ones that pooched SP3 for AMD based PCs by
installing Intel driver files.

I own an HP desktop that came with Works and I installed full version of
Office 2007 on it. No problems - works just fine.

I think this guy is confused. I think he's trying to upgrade, and can't.

Ok, I think you all forgot what the original question was. I am also looking
for the answer to the original question. I have a new computer. Office works
just fine but I am trying to set up my office outlook and when I key in my
product key, it tells me that it is invalid. So, I can only use my Office
outlook a few more times (without a product key) before it quits on me. Not
too sure what to do.

Office includes Outlook. Once you have activated Office then ALL modules are
activated. You do NOT have to activate each module separately.
At what point are you being asked to enter your product key in Outlook?

Ring Microsoft, I have always found them to be fully supportive of
Activation issues.
