My programs do not respond when using Save As functions

Varrall

When I am using any of Word, Excel or Powerpoint and make a new file, if I
try to use the Save As function and try to open a folder, for example, on my
C-drive the whole system freezes and I receive a Not Responding message.
Can you help me with this problem ?

I think I figured it out:

The error seems to be caused by the following windows security update:
KB908531. I uninstalled that update and now the problem doesn't occur anymore.

You can uninstall it from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs - make sure
you check the "show updates" box.

Perhaps the following will explain & resolve your issue:

Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell
after you install security update MS06-015
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165

Easy Fix: Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll
down to Item No. 383 "Hewlett-Packard's Share-to-Web software - Fix (MS06-015)"

Note: You may need to temporarily disable your antivirus program
in order to safely run the scripted fix.

Also, review the following:

I had the same problem with'save as' failure on Office XP, and the
suggestion below to remove this Windows update fixed it. KB908531 was auto
installed by Windows update tool on my PC on Apr 16, which corresponds with
when the problem started.
