My Project keeps growing just by saving it (even with no changes)

I havr no clue why my project with only 40 tasks, cost entries for resources,
and taks notes is now at 29M and grows everytime I save it even with no
changes. I am not connected to MS Project Server and I am using MS project
2003 Pro.

Thanks in advance,

Sometimes the data files become corrupted. By the size of the file, you are
probably in this situation.

Many of us have success by saving the file to another format (such as XML or
Microsoft Access). Here is what we do:

Open the file using MS Project 2003.
Immediately use File/SaveAs... and save the file to a different format such
as Access (.mdb) or <XML>. Make sure you save the entire project.

Close project 2003.
Restart Project 2003 and then use the File/Open command to browse to your
alternate file type. Make sure to change the file type in the "Files Of
Type" drop down box of the Open File Dialog.

Once the file is opened it has been converted back to Project 2003 format.
Use File Save As... and save back to .mpp format.

Close Project.

You should notice a drop in the file size. For a file of the size
mentioned, I'd say you should be under about 2MB or so.

Mike,
You might want to update your postings for FAQ 43. Remember we changed
the title of that FAQ when it was re-written.
