my send receive function does not recognise my sign on particular

When invoking the "Send/Receive" function in Outlook there is a pop-up window
requesting my User name and Password. When I enter these they are rejected
whereas when I enter the same information using Internet Explorer I have no
problem receiving emails. I can send from Outlook without any problem
