my table of contents is not formatting correctly

After adding chapters to my Heading 1 styles, my table of contents is not
formatting correctly. My TOC is pretty basic; I have only two levels. Level 1
is linked to Heading 1, and in the TOC it is bold and left-aligned with a dot
leader to the page number, which is right aligned. Level 2 is indented,
left-aligned and also has a dot leader to the right aligned page numbers.
However, after adding outline numbering to the Heading 1 style (without
changing any formatting), these headings are right aligning in my TOC. So the
headings are now right aligned, with the dot leader carried over to the next
line and the page number right aligned (below the header). I have tried to
modify the formatting in the TOC setup menu, but nothing seems to work. Help!

You need another left-aligned tab stop in the TOC1 Style to anchor the
heading title
